The Old City Kollel is an extraordinary Halachah Kollel whose mission is to foster the growth of future leaders, Mashpi’im, Mekarvim, and Rabbanim of Klal Yisroel.

The Kollel learns sugyos in halachah b’iyun, beginning with the Gemara and continuing through the Rishonim and Acharonim, delving into the Tur and Beis Yosef, and ultimately arriving at the Shulchan Aruch and the gedolei ha’Acharonim. The goal is not merely to cover material, but to train each and every avreich to think critically and develop the tools necessary to approach even the most complex sugyos in halachah with clarity and depth.

The Kollel provides its avreichim with access to outstanding rabbanim, mashgichim, mechanchim, and mekarvim, enabling them to grow not only in Torah and halachah, but also into future leaders of Klal Yisroel. Additionally, the avreichim are privileged to hear shiurim in halachah and hashkafah from Rav Yitzchok Berkovitz shlita, who imparts profound halachic and hashkafic wisdom to the Kollel.

Additionally, being located in the Old City allows our avreichim the opportunity to build genuine kesherim and make a lasting impact on the many baalei teshuvah who come to Yerushalayim seeking to learn more about their roots. Each avreich is paired with and learns b’chavrusa every single day with one of these special searching neshamos. These sessions serve as a space where avreichim are asked about topics ranging from “Who is Rashi?” to “How do you know Hashem exists?” Our avreichim are not merely sharing information; they are transforming lives and shaping the future of Klal Yisroel.

Unfortunately, due to financial challenges, our Kollel is facing the possibility of being unable to continue its vital mission.
