The Backstory

Kollel Pri Chaim was established in 2016 with a goal of ensuring that the Yungeleit Learn and retain their knowledge of hora'ah for years. All the material studied in the Kollel is reviewed multiple times even after testing. Since the inception, the Kollel has successfully covered several topics including basar b'chalav, taaruvos, melicha, and niddah, with the Yungeleit achieving great results in both group and individual assessments. Baruch Hashem, the Kollel Has produced four poskei halacha and several avreichim engaged in shimush talmidei chachamim.

The Rosh Kollel

The Rosh Kollel, HaRav Yechiel Marzel Shlita, learned in Mesivta Nachlas Tzvi in Toronto and Yeshiva Novominsk in Boro Park. After his marriage, he learned in Yeshivas Mir and studied halacha by HaRav Gershon Goldman, HaRav Moshe Frank, HaRav Sholom Anton, and HaRav Eliezer Glick, receiving semicha from HaRav Yaacov Meir Stern and shimush from HaRav Zwiebel and HaRav Chaim Bunim Shatz. Rav Marzel puts in great effort to provide the Yungeleit with the support and tools to help them succeed in their quest for hora'ah.

Learning in the Kollel

The Kollel's learning program emphasizes mastering topics in halacha for long term retention, covering the Shulchan Aruch with the Nosei Keilim, along with the Mishna Berura and Biur Halacha. The learning cycle consists of three weeks of study followed by one week of review and a test. Every three months, an additional review week is held, culminating in a quarterly test. In addition, the Rosh Kollel gives three chaburos a month, and the Yungeleit rotate giving chaburos themselves. After each topic, there;s a review and a test, followed by an assessment from prominent Rabbanim.
