Rav Nosson Tzvi ZT"L called Rav Aryeh Gottlieb שליט"א the Masmid of Mir Yeshiva.This unique Talmid Chochom joined us recently for several weeks in Bais Medrash Govoha's Bais Yitzchok.

The Bnai Yeshiva first became acquainted with Rav Aryeh several years ago when he settled himself in the Bais Medrash for several weeks, immersed in his learning with unusual Hasmoda. The oilam in Yeshiva quickly took notice of the unknown Talmid Chochom in our midst with the special Hadras Ponim. As time went on it became apparent that Rav Aryeh was not engaging in fundraising of any kind, and spent his entire time exclusively learning in the Bais Medrash.

As the time for his departure neared, it became evident that Rav Aryeh had left his family and his Bais Medrash because of his outstanding chovos, but his total dedication to his learning was such, that this was the entire extent of his hishtadlus. The Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Malkiel שליט"א, learned of the unusual situation, and wrote an unprecedented letter attesting that "כל הרואה, ישתומם על המראה", and all the Roshei Chabura wrote a letter requesting the tzibur's assistance.
